with a special feature on playing at St Andrews, the home of golf..

Hello,
My name is Les
Ross, welcome to our website. I am the founder of Highlanderllc School of Golf which is
based in San Rafael California, and the author of "Breaking the
Distance Barrier". Let me take this opportunity to
introduce myself and tell you more about our newsletter.
I
started my golf passion in the small town of Kitwe in Zambia from any early age. Since the prospects for a golf career were
limited in that part of Africa, I found myself studying
engineering in Glasgow Scotland after high school. Having spent more than 25 years
in the engineering world, my career has come full circle to
where I am now back working full time as a golf instructor and technical author.
My other passion
in life is physical fitness, having taught physical
conditioning for more than 20 years in the rugby world.
Matching this experience with an engineering
understanding of the mechanics of the golf swing and
an understanding of the new technology behind golf,
I have developed a unique perspective around the
game that I am eager to share with you.
Although I have
been told that I am not your "typical golf
instructor", my background reflects the direction
that the modern game has been moving over the last
ten years which has been towards the rapid
development of engineering technology in golf
equipment and towards physical fitness conditioning
at the top levels of play. That range of knowledge
is reflected in all aspects of my
teaching material.
I started
Highlander School of Golf because I saw an opportunity to bring
this approach over the internet directly to you to give you a
personal and affordable option for increasing your knowledge of
this wonderful game at times that are flexible to your schedule.
I also want to provide you with a one stop source to meet all your other
technical needs.
I am a firm believer that the golf swing is a
natural physical movement if allowed to move unrestricted. My
overall approach to teaching golf is to help you understand both
the mental and physical restrictions that impact your "natural
"swing and to direct you towards improved swing consistency and
power by applying simple golf physics - a topic that is
beginning to gain more ground in the golf world today.
Ultimately my overall aim is to help you lower your
scores by showing you how to produce those great shots that make
this game so exciting.
Newsletter Structure
As our business name suggests, we have a close
tie with Scotland. Each newsletter opens with an article
about golf
courses in Scotland. Some famous, some not so famous.
There are many great courses that are little known that offer the visitor a
great golfing venue as well as offer the rest of the family a great vacation
spot. Should you ever find yourself planning a vacation in Scotland, the
information in these articles will give you a starting point for your trip.
The technical content sections of the newsletter follows our
teaching philosophy:
The first
section
of the newsletter presents an article that focuses on golf strategy,
the aim of which is to help you "think outside of the box" about the game to
select the optimum approach that gives you the best scoring opportunities by
making the best use of your skills. This process is also designed to help you
relieve some of the "mental" pressure from your swing which is critical for
forging consistency.
The second section
presents an article on how
to improve your swing consistency by making you
aware of the "physical restrictions" of your body that may be impacting the
mechanics and fundamentals of your swing. This awareness of your "natural" swing
is another key ingredient for achieving consistency and optimizing the power of
your swing.
In the third section I include an article
that focuses on tips to improve swing power by making you more
aware of the "physics of the swing" that will explain how power is generated in
different areas of the body. Understanding "why" this works guides you towards
making technique adjustments that will further optimize the power potential of
your swing.
In the fourth section, I give you a golf
fitness routine that is specifically aimed at
increasing the strength and flexibility of the muscles
of focus in the swing power discussion.
From time to time we may send you a specific mini newsletter that covers a
specific technical aspect of the game. We may also inform
you of the latest online seminars that have been added to the
Highlander School of Golf web site menu for those who wish to
dig into these topics a little deeper, along with overviews of any new or interesting
golf E Books from other authors
who have similar teaching philosophies.
At the moment our seminar library is small. However, each
month we add new topics to the list that will cover many
different aspects of the game. We may also feature
reviews on golf courses outside of Scotland that have been submitted by our
subscribers who want to share an enjoyable experience with other readers.
My hope is that you will find the information in the newsletter and our website
interesting and beneficial, and you will use them as a major source for
developing your game. Our company is pioneering a new medium for
golf instruction and as such I welcome any of your comments or suggestions about
any
subject matter that would make our website or newsletter match
your instruction needs.
Take full
advantage of this free quality information that I guarantee will
make a difference to your game by signing up for the newsletter.
I look forward to working with you personally in the future.
